Description:

The purpose of this training is to educate practitioners in the southwest/south central region of Ohio to understand how implicit bias creates disparities in healthcare for marginalized groups in the local community. This training will explore several types of bias as examined via the Harvard Implicit Association Test. (IAT).

**Participants are asked to complete 1-2 IATs of their choice PRIOR to the CE Event.**

During the training, participants will discuss the topics of the Harvard Implicit Association Tests, disparities in healthcare, cultural humility, and strategies to check your bias while providing care for marginalized groups.

Objectives:

  1. Identify personal biases and understand how “unchecked” bias can create health disparities.
  2. Recognize the importance of moving toward a practice of cultural humility.
  3. Identify strategies to reduce biases in order to provide culturally responsive care.
