This presentation will review and define coaching as it relates to occupational therapy practice, as well as provide increased understanding of motivational Interviewing to enhance success for occupational therapy practitioners.
Objectives:
Participants will be able to:
- Identify various coaching techniques and why they are useful to us as occupational therapy practitioners.
- Identify motivational interviewing strategies and how they can be integrated into occupational therapy settings.
- Determine stages of change and techniques to assist with intrinsic motivation of patients and caregivers as they relate to occupational therapy goals.
- Apply coaching techniques to assist with adherence to occupational therapy SMART goals.
