Focusing on all aspects of a person's functional independence and well-being, neurorehabilitation allows occupational therapy practitioners to teach or re-train patients on mobility skills, communication processes, and other aspects of that person's daily routine. Advanced technology is an important component to help patients regain their motor skills, reduce symptoms, and improve their daily activities.
Objectives:
Following this course, attendees will be able to:
- Describe neuroplasticity and related therapy goals from compensation to restoration based from new outcomes and motor learning.
- Identify precautions/contradictions, and improving quality outcomes for individuals with a functional deficit.
- Identify different usage of a variety of technologies that can help improve quality outcomes, specifically e-stim, Bionness H200, ArmeoSpring, ArmeoPower, and virtual reality.
- Recognize current trends and recent research to improve the delivery of clinical practice.
